چکیده

Surface modification is used to extend the life of implants. To increase corrosion resistance and improve biocompatibility metal implant materials, oxidation Ti-13Nb-13Zr titanium alloy was used. The samples for research had shape a helix with metric thread, their geometry imitating dental implant. oxide layer produced by standard electrochemical method in an environment 1M H3PO4 + 0.3% HF 20 min, at constant voltage 30 V. oxidized were analyzed scanning electron microscope. Nanotubular layers internal diameters 30–80 nm found. An analysis surface topography performed using optical microscope, Sa parameter determined top bottom, where significant difference value observed. presence layer, visible bottom helix, confirmed analyzing sample cross-sections computed tomography. Corrosion tests artificial saliva solution demonstrated higher current less noble potential due incomplete coverage pitting. Necessary improved parameters will be applied future work.

Nanostructured Surfaces of Dental Implants

The structural and functional fusion of the surface of the dental implant with the surrounding bone (osseointegration) is crucial for the short and long term outcome of the device. In recent years, the enhancement of bone formation at the bone-implant interface has been achieved through the modulation of osteoblasts adhesion and spreading, induced by structural modifications of the implant surf...

Effect of Screw Profile on Stress Distribution Pattern of Dental Implants by FEA

ARTICLE INFO Dental implants constitute a well-established approach for substitute of lost teeth with titanium being the most preferential material for implantation. However, titanium has its confines in esthetically demanding cases and neither the form nor material of such implants has changed much over the past 40 years. Immediate implantation is used to overcome the disadvantages of conventi...

Bio-Functionalization of Titanium Surfaces for Dental Implants

Since dental implants are used in contact with many different tissues, it is necessary to have optimum surface compatibility with the host bone tissues and soft tissues. Furthermore, dental implant surfaces exposed to the oral cavity must remain plaque-free. Such materials can be created under well-controlled conditions by modifying the surfaces of metals that contact those tissues. “Tissue-com...

Characterization of titanium surfaces for dental implants with inorganic contaminant.

The aim of this research was to characterize titanium surfaces blasted with aluminum oxide (Al2O3) particles using the KS 400 digital image processing program. Samples of grade II titanium plates were submitted to blasting processes using particles of Al2O3, and treated with a hydrofluoric acid-based solution. Three digital images from each sample surface were obtained using Scanning Electron M...
